The iTunes Music Store has begun selling AAC-encoded audio in bitrates observed as high as 284 kbps. A recent download of some music from the store showed some of the music encoded at new higher bitrates. This does not currently affect all songs, but some of the newer ones can be obtained with an improved quality.
