At Artisan, we realize that, while you may be contacting us about a computer, what you really want is a solution to a problem. The computer is just the tool you use to do the job - and our job is to make sure you can do your job best. As with any task, if you're using substandard tools you're going to waste time, energy, and money. If it's not providing benefits or improving how you do things, your computer might as well be a doorstop.
The tools you use also become a part of your life - do you want to burden yourself with a frustrating, substandard computing experience, that you have to fight against to get what you want done?
By providing training, customization, and proper hardware and software selection an Artisan consultant can provide a comprehensive assistance that empowers you to get your work done, and will last for years to come.
We don't just look at making a quick buck off you. In every plan we make, we look at the long term consequences of our decisions. We won't recommend something that will soon be obsolete or outgrown by success. We'll tell you when you need to retire that old computer instead of fixing it (even if we'd make more money by fixing it), and then help assess your needs, in order to get you a computer that will last you for years to come.
"If all you have is a hammer, then everything looks like a nail"
We know that not every computer system will match your needs. Different computing platforms have different strengths and weaknesses - you wouldn't need the wonderful graphical interface of a Mac for a simple network firewall, but a Mac would be great for graphic design or video editing. For this reason, we support many different operating systems and hardware platforms, and suggest different tools for different jobs.
We take this a step further - the hardware we deploy is the best available, and often customized for the need at hand. For example, a file server wouldn't need a fancy 3D video card, but error correcting memory, and redundant hard disks would greatly enhance it's reliability. A graphic design workstation may be more useful with a second monitor or a drawing tablet. A computer used for audio editing may need special fans and noise reduction apparatus so that it doesn't become a distraction. This sort of attention to detail makes the difference between a generic solution that may gracelessly get the job done, and having your computers be reliable and a joy to work with.
This being the case, we strive for excellence on all the platforms we support - while you can write email, surf the web, and do word processing on almost any modern computer, there may be unseen benefits that you are unaware of. For example, what if your work requires that you use a specific method to log into a server? Or what if you need an application to manage your business, and you're in a field that requires software that is only available on one platform? These kinds of cases are all too common - but we can often create a solution so you can use the platform you prefer, and still get what you need to do done.
